Itinerary

Day 1: Marrakech – Imi Oughlad (1,400m) – Imasker (1,400m) / Bivouac

Meet your guide and driver at your accommodation in Marrakech. Journey south through the lush Gheraya Valley to Imi Oughlad (1,400m). Here, you’ll join your muleteers and cook. Begin your trek with a gradual ascent to L’Bour Pass (1,500m), where you’ll enjoy stunning views of Tagadirt Ait Ali village. Continue your descent to Imasker Village (1,400m), where you’ll set up your bivouac for the night.

Walking Time: 4 hours

Day 2: Imasker (1,400m) – Tachaddirte (2,500m) / Bivouac

After breakfast, start your walk towards Arg Pass (1,600m), which offers breathtaking views of the Ait Imnane Valley. Traverse through Berber villages before arriving at Tachaddirte (2,500m). Set up your bivouac and enjoy an overnight stay.

Walking Time: 6 hours

Day 3: Tachaddirte – Tizi N’Ourai (3,120m) / Bivouac

Cross the valley and embark on a challenging ascent to Tizi Likemt (3,555m), navigating loose scree along the way. At the top, take in your first panoramic view of the Toubkal massif, including the summit of Toubkal. Camp overnight at Tizi N’Ourai.

Walking Time: 6 hours

Day 4: Tizi N’Ourai – Ifni Lake (2,300m) / Overnight

Enjoy magnificent views from Tizi N’Ourai before heading towards Ifni Lake, the only lake in the massif. Surrounded by rugged mountains, it’s a breathtaking sight. Camp by the lake for the night.

Walking Time: 7 hours

Day 5: Ifni Lake – Nelter Hut (3,200m) / Overnight

Prepare for a demanding day as you trek up a steep path to Nelter Hut, navigating a challenging scree slope. Set up camp by the refuge for an overnight stay.

Day 6: Neltner Hut – Ouanoukrim (4,086m) – Refuge

Ascend to Ouanoukrim (4,086m) for acclimatization before returning to the refuge for the night.

Day 7: Nelter Hut (3,200m) – Summit of Toubkal (4,167m) – Refuge

Rise early for your climb to the summit of Toubkal (4,167m), the highest peak in North Africa. Enjoy panoramic views of the Atlas Mountains and surrounding valleys. After a brief snack at the summit, descend to the refuge for lunch and then take a short walk to Tizi Ouanoumos (3,600m) for the night.

Walking Time: 7 hours

Day 8: Refuge – Armed (2,000m) / Gite

After breakfast, descend to the Chamharouch Shrine (2,300m) before reaching Armed Village (2,000m). Explore the villages of the Ait Mizan Valley as you wish. Overnight in a local gite.

Day 9: Armed – Imlil – Tizi N’Oughbar (2,200m) – Azib n’Ikkis (2,250m) / Camp

Descend through the orchards of Armed Village and take a zigzag path to Imlil. Meet your driver for the transfer to Azilal and then to the Col de Tizi n’Oughbar for panoramic views. Continue into the valley of Oued Lakhdar and arrive at the Ait Bougamez Valley. Meet your muleteers and trek to Azib n’Ikkis (2,300m).

Day 10: Azib n’Ikkis (2,250m) – Col de Tarkedit (3,400m) – Tarkedit Plateau (2,900m) / Camp

Ascend to Col de Tarkedit (3,400m), offering splendid views of M’Goun’s summit. Enjoy a short descent to the Tarkedit Plateau. Camp overnight.

Walking Time: 6 hours

Day 11: Tarkedit Plateau – M’Goun Summit (4,071m) – Tarkedit Plateau / Camp

Set out early for a 4 to 5-hour ascent to M’Goun Summit (4,071m). The climb is steep but rewarding with breathtaking views. Return by retracing your steps to the Tarkedit Plateau.

Walking Time: 8 hours

Day 12: Tarkedit Plateau – Oumsoud Pass (2,969m) – Oulilimt Valley – Ain Aflafal (2,800m) / Bivouac

Enjoy a varied day’s walk around the Arouss Gorge, including streams and rivers, and an ascent to Oumsoud Pass (2,969m). Picnic in a meadow in Oulilimt Valley and continue to Ain Aflafal (2,800m) for the night.

Walking Time: 5 hours

Day 13: Ain Aflafal – Tabant / Gite

Walk approximately 5 to 6 hours to Tabant, crossing the Ait Imi Pass (2,905m). The hike starts easy but becomes steeper as you approach the pass. Descend to Tabant, spending the night in a local gite.

Walking Time: 5 hours

Day 14: Tabant – Ouzoud Waterfalls – Marrakech

Transfer to Marrakech, stopping to admire the Ouzoud Waterfalls along the way.

Walking Time: 5 hours
